Sexual enjoyment is just as important as sexual health. Many women and men can encounter various issues in regards to their sex life, sometimes causes that are not always in their control. But what you can control is what you eat and put into your body, which can immensely improve the enjoyment of your sex life.

There are various foods that are known to help balance and increase the levels of important hormones to fully enjoy sexual pleasure.

Below are 5 foods that you probably didn’t know could improve your sex life:

5. Clementines

Clementines are those small tiny, and often times, seedless little oranges. They offer a great source of vitamin C and fiber. These little citruses are also low in fat, sugar and calories. Aside from clementines, other foods that are high in vitamin C are an overall great healthy choice to make, as well as adding a benefit to your sex life. Vitamin C helps boost your energy and mood. Other citrus fruits (oranges, tangerines, mandarins, etc;) are good choices as well.

4. Bananas

A more popular fruit, many people know and eat bananas to gain more potassium. Aside from helping lower blood pressure, do you know that bananas are also rich in vitamin b6? Vitamin b6 aids in reducing huge hormone shifts that affect your mood and progesterone levels. The B6 vitamin also works with other B vitamin complexes for the production of sex hormones. Bananas also produce tyrosine which turns your nerve cells into happy brain chemicals (dopamine and norepinephrine) increasing your desire.

3. Spinach

Aside from being iron-rich, which is extremely beneficial for providing you lots of energy, spinach is also a great source of vitamin E — this vitamin is great for helping your body produce lubrication naturally. It’s also great for your skin. Many lubricants on the market have vitamin E oil as an ingredient, and plain vitamin E oil can be used alone as a lubricant as well. Spinach is a healthy vegetable many Americans already need more of, and it’s low in calories and beneficial to your sex life especially for stamina.

2. Pineapples

Many women and men may already know that pineapples helps produce sweeter tastes when partaking in oral sex. Aside from the use of pineapple as a taste generator, pineapples are an overall healthy fruit rich in vitamin C, manganese, and bromelain, an enzyme known for increasing blood flow and energy for the male. Bromelain also aids in improving digestion.

1. Watermelon

Even Beyonce gave it a shout out in her “Drunk in Love” single — watermelons are low in fat, sugar, and carbs. But it’s also super high in vitamin A and C and helps increase neurotransmitters, which are the main hormones for helping keep our sexual libido balanced and active. One of these neurotransmitters is dopamine—responsible for your mood, energy, motivation and excitement. Watermelons are also said to increase blood flow to sexual organs.
