I purchased this more for the heat output reviews rather than for the ambiance of the flames.
I was looking to heat a 3 season room and after purchasing and trying out two other heaters I decided to go with a “fireplace design”. This puts out more heat than any of the other portable heaters I tried (all in the price range of $100-$150) The heat output is pretty good for what it is. Nothing insane but I believe it will be ok for what I want it for.

It has the option of surface mounting which is what I had planned on but it’s too thick for that so I took the extra time to cut into the wall and mount it. I’m glad I did. It looks great. ( you will need run electrical to mount an electrical box inside the wall for the plug if you go with the inside mount option or tap off an existing outlet)

The flames are nice. Not realistic looking (which is fine ) , but still cool with the different color combinations. My kids constantly want to turn it on and look at it. Worth the money spent.

This is the second fireplace insert that I have purchased. I installed the first one into a fireplace opening that was a non-functioning fireplace (condemned by professionals), and it fit into the opening perfectly along with the framework that was already installed. I installed this one into my current home that has a fireplace, but needed a little more alteration in order to make it "fit" properly. I purchased the 36" wide which fit exactly perfectly horizontally. I needed to build a simple frame to fill in the top and bottom as well as make a brace for the back where I could screw in the insert so it would hold securely.

The insert works just as expected, and I love all of its features. It allows for different colors of flames as well as rock colors and it even has a variable heater that puts out just the right amount of heat as needed on my Texas winter evenings.

The installation can either be hung on a wall, or built into the wall or fireplace (as I did), but either way, the instructions are easy to follow and not all that difficult for a person with some simple carpentry skills.

I highly recommend this product as it is easy to install, has many different features, and is a beautiful alternative to a dusty, smoky, dangerous wood burning fireplace in your home. By the way, I would not have purchased a second one of these if the first one did not impress me so much. I am 100% PLEASED with this product, and I believe you will be also. Enjoy!

Sleek, awesome room heater!

This heater delivers on all counts: warmth, looks, quiet, and ease of use/installation. We were concerned about using it on a wood wall, but no problem as the only heat generated is on the front, near the outlet. The manual does not describe this well, though. Installation is a breeze for on-the-wall mounting with a strong bracket, although it helped to be 2 of us as in manual to better hold glass. Did use our own shorter screws so as not to stick into knee wall storage behind. Heats our 10x15 bedroom just fine here in Maine (it is on second floor with no other heat source). Looks sleek, nicely designed with lower indicator lights going-out until you need them with a touch on screen or remote that’s works great. We can hear the fan, but it is quiet enough to be barely heard background sound. And we are having such fun playing with colored lights on shimmering crystals (hard plastic, but look like glass) that work fine as described. Although not real logs or a real fireplace, it is enough different that it can be enjoyed for its own merits. Especially love the tall, dancing flames that add reflective primal ambience. The big black cord is a bit unsightly, and we hope to install heater in wall and hide cord as another project, but this was as advertised. The 30 inch size was just right for this room, not available with many vendors. So, unless this product fails, it is delightful for a distinctive, funky, effective and easy-to-use heater if this is your style—and using this electric heat via our community solar farm means it is carbon free, an added bonus for climate change.
