Three people in my family are coffee drinkers, and I used to make cold brew by steeping coffee in a big bowl on the counter overnight then straining it through a cloth lined sieve into a pitcher. The coffee was good, but it was messy to make. This system is amazing. It does the same thing but in the jar we store it in, and the strainer is easy to empty and clean. I have used store bought ground coffee and coarse ground from coffee shops. The storebought tends to leave sludge in the bottom of the jar, but it's easier to keep on hand. I also find that I don't always use the handle/spout that came with it. I have reusable mason jar lids that work just fine.
Here are two of my favorite recipes using our cold brew. I keep a jar of creamer that I make by pouring a can of evaporated milk and a can of sweetened condensed milk in a mason jar - shake well when you use it. Cold brew, creamer, and some vanilla coffee syrup over ice. It's easy to fiddle with the strength of the coffee flavor. I do maybe 70% coffee, 30% creamer. My daughter does more like 50/50.
The other drink we make is dirty chai. I buy cartons of liquid chai at the grocery store. 1 cup chai, 1 cup milk, and I never measure the cold brew but I put somewhere between 1/2 cup and 1 cup of coffee and a little pour of vanilla syrup. My daughter says this one is starbucks tier. I would recommend this system and buy it as a gift for any coffee drinking friends.

Easy to use and works well!
CL cold brew container! I give this product 5 stars, because it works great for me. I use it with coffee grounds and could see where iced tea would work great, also! I would drink tea out of it and have enjoyed sun decaf tea in jars before! I love the size of this item, which is perfect for us! It is convenient to use, literally no learning curve! I usually brew from beans, but had a bunch of grounds and was not able to brew fast enough to keep them fresh! I think ppl who posted neg reviews have been basing their ratings on the drink they made inside of it instead of the product itself!
